May is Asthma Awareness Month. Over 25 million Americans suffer from asthma, with 10 of them losing their lives each day. The leading chronic disease in children, asthma is the top reason for missed school days. America’s under served communities, mostly poor and Black or Brown, experience higher rates of illness and far worse outcomes.
Meat-processing plants around the US have been hotspots for the novel coronavirus. Over 5,000 workers have tested positive for COVID-19 and at least 20 have died. As a result, many workers are required to work longer and more frequent shifts.
