Make a Gift with a Donor-Advised Fund

The donor-advised fund (DAF) is becoming an increasingly popular way to support your favorite nonprofit organizations. DAFs can provide you with immediate tax benefits and make your charitable giving easier.

How does it work?

Establish your DAF by making an irrevocable, tax-deductible donation to your local community foundation, a public charity with a donor-advised fund program, or one of the well-known investment companies that sponsor donor-advised funds.

Advise the investment allocation of the donated assets (any investment growth is tax-free).

Recommend grants to the charities you support. You always have the option to make the donation anonymously if you choose.

When making your recommendations, you can make an outright gift through your DAF by suggesting a grant to New Roots Institute, or you can designate New Roots Institute to receive a portion or all of the fund value upon the termination of the fund. You can select the option that best suits your philanthropic and financial goals.

Just contact your DAF fund administrator to request a distribution or beneficiary form or download the appropriate form(s) from your administrator’s website, or if your foundation or financial institution is included in the DAF-Direct tool below, you can initiate your gift here.

If you include New Roots Institute in your plans, please let us know and use our legal name and federal tax ID.
