Please RSVP by registering here: bit.ly/ffacshift2
Join FFAC’s new CultureShift Book Club! Meetings will take place on the first Tuesday of each month, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. PT. We’ll be discussing a variety of books and long-form articles that explore speciesism, racism, sexism, materialism, and their interconnections. Everyone is welcome!
This month we are reading “The Lives of Animals,” by J.M. Coetzee.
"The idea of human cruelty to animals so consumes novelist Elizabeth Costello in her later years that she can no longer look another person in the eye: humans, especially meat-eating ones, seem to her to be conspirators in a crime of stupefying magnitude taking place on farms and in slaughterhouses, factories, and laboratories across the world. M. Coetzee uses fiction to present a powerfully moving discussion of animal rights in all their complexity."
