Safe Space Policy for Events

FFAC events are spaces where participants feel comfortable learning, sharing, and growing. Recognizing that oppressions and biases are present in systems of power, we are constantly striving to be better, be accountable, and make room to have courageous conversations. A safer space is inclusive to all races, sexes, genders, ages, religions, abilities, immigration status, and lived experiences.

We must all work together to create this space within FFAC’s events. Related to this, we have developed the following guidelines to address inappropriate behavior at FFAC events:

  • Inappropriate behavior that is prohibited may include—but is not limited to—sexual harassment or behavior that is racist, sizeist, sexist, transphobic, queerphobic, ableist, xenophobic, ageist, and homophobic. Inappropriate behavior also includes an unwillingness to listen to and learn from others’ experiences.
  • If you feel that you have been subjected to inappropriate behavior or discrimination, you should report the incident to FFAC staff. Someone else may also report on your behalf. There will be no retaliation against the person who reports the behavior.
  • If you have feedback or suggestions for making FFAC events more inclusive, please contact FFAC staff at info@ffacoalition.org.If someone questions your behavior, the event coordinator will speak with you. You may be given a verbal warning and you may be asked to leave the event. If inappropriate behavior continues and/or is reported again, you may be prohibited from attending future FFAC events.
